What to Expect When Starting Butrans Treatment

The first time you apply Butrans, or at any dosage increase, it can take up to 3 days for your body to absorb enough of the medicine in the patch for Butrans to reach steady levels in your body. If you think you are not getting enough pain relief or if your pain increases during this period, contact your healthcare professional.

Do not change your dose unless directed by your healthcare professional.

Working together with your healthcare professional

You and your healthcare professional should discuss the goals for your Butrans therapy and talk about finding a dosage strength that provides a balance of pain relief and side effects. Work with your healthcare professional to periodically reassess the continued need for Butrans.
